Y
Healthy Kids Day - Saturday April 27, 2013
The Y
celebraed Healthy Kids
Day on Saturday, April 27, from 11 am to
3 pm, at Patriots Park, Tarrytown, NY
with free community events that help
families
find fun through active play and educational opportunities that
inspire them to carry that spirit
throughout their summer.
We
thank our Event Sponsor: Stop & Shop, our Ride
Sponsors: Citibank, EF Schools, Hudson Health
Plan, and Wells Fargo Bank,
as well as all our vendors, artists, physical
fitness folks and Y Staff!
Healthy Kids Day, a national initiative of the Y
to improve the health and well-being of kids, is
filled with fun, active play and educational
activities that will help parents improve their
kids’ lifestyles for the long term. Research
shows that without access to activities that
stimulate the mind and body, kids are more prone
to gain weight and fall behind academically over
the summer months.
There was live
music, live animals, games & sports, rides for
toddlers ($10 ride bracelet fee at event), face
painting, dancing, and more for kids. Parents
explored health, dental, insurance, and
safety tables. Healthy food from local vendors
The Cookery, Chutney Masala, and Shop Rite rounded out the day of fun in the park. For the
fifth year, the Y collaborated with the
Rotary of the Tarrytowns' Duck Derby.
Thanks for attending!
A leading
nonprofit committed to strengthening community
through youth development, healthy living and
social responsibility, the Y holds Healthy Kids
Day to teach healthy habits and inspire a
lifetime love of physical activity through
active play. As part of this initiative, the Y –
along with hundreds of thousands of parents and
kids nationwide – is taking on summer by
addressing critical gaps in health and education
that cause kids to be at risk for childhood
obesity and suffer summer learning loss.
Emergency Closings
The Gym (Studio A), Weight Training
Center and Spin Studio are temporarily closed
due to flooding. Please check with the
Welcome Desk to see if classes in those studios
are running. Most Dance classes will run
and may be relocated.
