WHEN WILL THE Y REOPEN?

Dear Y Member:

I know many are wondering when we will reopen and what will that look like.  The Y will be able to reopen when Westchester County is in Phase 4 based on on NYS's reopening plan, which we anticipate will be sometime in July.  We are eager to welcome back our members and are currently in the process of developing strategic plans to ensure the safety of our members and employees.  New policies and procedures will be put into place so that anyone who wants to use the Y will feel comfortable in doing so. As we prepare, we would like to hear from you and have sent out a survey to members signed up for email updates.  To be added to the list, please email me at lesad@ymcatarrytown.org

In the interim, we are continuing to provide ZOOM group exercise and dance classes for our members.  If you are interested in trying a class please email me at lesad@ymcatarrytown.org  The Y Early Learning Center is open and we are serving not only our own participants but also children of essential workers. Our dedicated staff recently took a walking tour around Tarrytown, paying a distant visit to those families who opted to keep their children home during this crisis.

We have been providing financial assistance for over half our residents who are unable to pay rent (as well as other necessary support for them), reaching out with wellness calls for our seniors and other most needy members.

Just as we have in past crises like the housing and financial crisis of 2008, where we drastically reduced membership fees of anyone in need, the Y is still here for our community.  The direction of our mission has not changed; we have never turned anyone away based on their ability to pay and during the last two years gave out over $800,000 in aid to the families we serve. In order to be able to reopen and continue our mission when the crisis is over, we are asking for all of our members’ support.  Many do not realize that we are a chartible organization that does not receive any financial assistance from the national Y so member contributions are crucial to our organization.  To those who have graciously continued to support us during this crisis; we THANK YOU!

Thank you for being a part of our Y Family; we hope that you stay safe during this crisis.

Sincerely,

Lesa Dalton, Associate Executive Director
