Y Aquatics Helps Author Write a Children's Book!
Alyssa Satin Capucilli is an award winning creator and author of the Katy the Duck and Biscuit series of childrens books. She also enrolled her child in our Y Swimming Lessons for many years. Throughout 2017, Alyssa came to visit the Y's parent/child and preschool lessons on several different occasions. She sat on deck near the Lifeguard with Senior Director, Melissa Weaver, and observed the lessons, asked questions and took copious notes for her book. Fast forward to Spring, 2018 and Alyssa's Ready to Read pre level one book, My First Swim Class, is published, and she has dedicated her book to the Aquatics Department of the Y. Congratulations to Alyssa and to our incredible Aquatics department!
social responsibility
The generosity of others is at the core of the Y’s existence as a global nonprofit. It is only through the support of our hundreds of thousands of volunteers and public and private donors that we are able to support and give back to the communities we engage.
